Blizzard ATTACKED by Former IGN Hosts Over Warcraft 3 Reforged Disaster (And Recent Company Failure)
62Activision Blizzard and its latest epic fail of a launch in Warcraft 3 Reforged has brought the company back in the spotlight of controversy and a whole new slew of backlash. And you know it's really bad when the failure in question even brings the media shills, IGN Former hosts and employees, roast you as well. Former IGN Daily Fix and Nerdist News host Jessica Chobot as well as Greg Miller did not hesitate to blast Blizzard over the game, Blitzchung and others at the recent D.I.C.E. Summit in Las Vegas.
It is alarming how often Blizz fails to deliver on their products and to make a reasonable response to their failure. With this warcraft epic fail, they destroyed any hype generated by the announcement and reveal. Warcraft reforged was rejected, it sucks, and hopefully refunded by all. Watching them roasted is funny af.
Back at Blizzcon 2018, the controversial announcement of Diablo Immortal was massively disappointing. One of the biggest disappointments and/or failures in gaming as fans expected news of PC followups to their favorite franchises, specifically Diablo 4. When told that there were no plans for the game to be on PC, fans in the crowd erupted in boos, to which the Blizzard representative on stage, Wyatt Cheng, chose to respond with “Do you guys not have phones?” One of the biggest memes of recent years… Biggest Blizzard meme ever, that’s for sure. We also had a disgruntled fan asking if the android and iOs title was an out of season April Fools joke, which resulted in more cheers than anything Blizzard had to show on stage. The reactions were not good, and rightfully so. The fan-favorite action role-playing game, famously on PC, reduced to another trash mobile port. The booing crowd being the requiem for the once great franchise.
J.Allen Brack sat down with IGN for an interview where he talked about the lessons Blizzard has learned from the Diablo Immortal experience, and explained that they were still a PC Gaming Company and that they didn’t do a good job of making that message clear. But they didn’t make that a message at all. Only now with their stock prices still down in the dumps do they choose to make this garbage response that does nothing to really rectify or prove anything.
They claim to still be committed to being a strong PC gaming company yet going out of their way to state they have plenty of new mobile titles across all of their IPs being worked on by their best video game developers. Heroes of the Storm went on life support... We have World of Warcraft Classic, which is nice and all, but it’s not new. A new WoW Expansion? Battle for Azeroth was literally the worst expansion ever but Shadowlands seems cool. They finally announced Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2, which seemed for a moment like they were on the right track, even making it so you carried over progress from Overwatch 1… And just when I was starting to get excited for Blizz again, especially with Diablo IV, then came Warcraft 3:Reforged.
Activision Blizzard seemed to have a checklist of everything they could possibly do wrong with this Warcraft III Reforged, from downgrading the graphics of a nearly 2 decade old game somehow, not updating the cutscenes like they promised in the original reveal, server issues at launch, a plethora of missing features from the original, denying refunds, not allowing complaining about not getting refunds, even bans for such actions and banning people for helping other users by explaining how they got their refunds on the forums, switching to automatic refunds due to the backlash but with no announcement of such change to not encourage it, then finally releasing a contender for the weakest apology (more like a non-apology) ever delivered by a video game developer. Well congratulations Blizzard… This game is now the worst rated video game on Metacritic by user score in all of its history.
But don’t worry, I bet we'll see mobile versions of Overwatch, Warcraft, Diablo and Starcraft in the coming years. Hearthstone's already on mobile. And hey, we all have phones, and we’ll be able to jump on those Netease Pay to Win Blizzard games with them. Lmao.
E3 2020 is right around the corner, so we'll see if Blizzard has anything in store for that that could possibly make amends for this disaster, otherwise we have to wait for Blizzcon 2020 in November for any major announcements.
