In this game you have to clear the screen for the blocks with arrows and dots to complete the level and go on to the next level. The aim of the game is to complete the 50 levels and beat the high score.
There are three types of blocks:
- The ones with a straight arrow that will move as far as they can in the direction the arrow points.
- The ones with a dot that can not be moved.
- The ones with a bend on the arrow, and they will move as far as they can get in two directions.
The other blocks are a part of the level designs and does not / can not be removed.
When a level begins the first thing you have to do is to count the blocks you have to get rid of, if it is an even number of blocks, then you will have to put them all together as a pair. If it is not an even number you will have to find a place where you can put three together, and this have to be done right by moving a block into the middle of the two others, else they will not all disappear.
It is kind of a special puzzle game for the Spectrum, I don’t recall having seeing similar gameplay, and it is quite good and addictive. The graphics is nice and colorful and if you have 128k there are different in game AY soundtracks by SpectrumNez.
The difficulty seems to be more or less the same all through the game, it is not like the last ten levels is extremely tough compared to the first ten levels. There are five restarts to use, and you can resume the game from the highest reached level, but your score will then start at zero and you will be starting from a harder level.
The timer is a bit annoying when playing on real hardware. On emulators you can off course use the pause function, but the timer is not really necessary for causing the lose of lives in a game with 50 levels, where you will lose plenty of lives anyway because you have moved a block wrong. Diagonal movement for the cursor you control would also have been a plus, but a fine and original puzzle game that should be checked out!
The game was made by Raymond Russell in 2020.
