Boss mode is still set to hard - no johns. No deaths.

Stage 2 puts us in a swamp, but you barely get to deal with the usual swamp shenanigans as Miriam. (Quicksand floor, damaging floor stuff) Just like in the first Curse of the Moon, the opening part of the stage serves as an intro to your high jumping character - with candles out of Zangetsu's normal reach and enemies better dispatched with a longer reach. This stage benefited a good deal with Legend Hunter - you'll see a lot more enemies in rooms that feel like obstacle courses. There's a few more of the enemies that land underneath the platforms and spew poisonous clouds at you, and Miriam doesn't have a way to deal with them, so get comfortable dodging them. Won't be the last time you'll see 'em, either.

There's an upgrade Miriam can get here that ups your Weapon Points by 10. If you get the item, it saves it to your file, even if you back out or game over. This was before I knew about copying files, so on this playthrough, I already have 30 WP instead of the normal 20 going into the stage. I try not to go below 10, but it's not that much of an advantage. (Maybe once health upgrades come in, that'll change.)

Boss: Lubius (Or Succubus-Butterfly-Illusion thingy. But we'll go with Lubius.)
This boss is a parasite that can take several forms, and in this case, is a seductive woman. In the final episode, Miriam takes a jab at Zangetsu for that...but what if this was what Dominique saw it as? This boss doesn't take forever since you can readily hit it when you need to. I got pretty sloppy with the fight, but still made it through. Here's the attacks.

Faerie Gift:
While flying around, it'll release two flying...butterfly...lamp things at you. You can destroy them easily before they land. But if they DO land, it opens up a dome where zombie soldiers will come out of both ends. Almost reminds me of the enemy spawn points in Gauntlet Legends...but these take more than one hit to take out - if possible, don't let them land. If you're close to Lubius as the gifts are released, they won't immediately drop on you.

Pixie Pillow:
The outer faeries (I think? I'm doing a lot of guessing here.) will detach from the seat Lubius is in, and 3 of them will hover above. They will chase after you, which you can really dodge by just moving away. There will also be platforms that come down, which you'll need to get on as it drops lower. Stay near Lubius and if you have a high jumping character, (Enter Miriam) you can ride the descending platforms to do damage to her. She'll drop a heart that leaves the floor in a misty mess that lasts for a few moments. If you ride the platforms on the edge, in Hard mode, you have to jump off of it to avoid damage.

Tachypsychia Drop:
Tachypsychia is when time feels like it slows down due to high levels of physical stress, traumatic events or drug use. I remember waking up early and always noticing that music, or my alarm clock would sound slower...but I don't think it's quite the same thing. (But at any rate, I learned a new word!) When Lubius gets to half it's health, if it passes over you, it'll drop on you and reveal it's true form - which isn't nearly as luscious as what you saw earlier. When it lands, it creates a shockwave you have to jump over, and will billow out close range clouds that block damage. (Unless you have Miriam's range.) The move ends with a few extra purple clouds homing in on you not unlike the faeries from before did.

Desperation Move: Paradise Lost
Upon finishing its healthbar, the illusion will be dispelled and you'll see Lubius retain its normal form. It will then take center stage and SUCC clouds into itself and attempt to blow up. The clouds are destructible, so clear them before you get the succ. Also be wary the final explosion lasts a bit longer than the explosions, but you'll never have to worry about that if you're hugging either corner. (Don't ask how I figured out...)
