Bloodstorm, 1994 Incred Techs/Strata (Flashback Ep 16)
6Rather cool vs. fighting game, albeit with cartoony graphics and somewhat clunky animation, with several hidden secrets and hidden fighters to uncover. The blood and gore flows VERY freely in this game due to the fatalities and limb-renderings you can pull off! Very disgusting at times but if you can stomach the grue there is a lot to like in this follow-up to TIME KILLERS. Pick from 8 different fighters and fight with special moves. Each character also has a gauntlet-- this will allow you to fire weapons you gained from defeated enemies (it's hard to find the weapon moves online-- look for the Bloodstorm arcade manual)! You can fire missiles, morph, shoot lasers, etc. And when you stun an enemy (hit them 5 times real quick) you can behead them, do a special finishing move, or cut off their arms and legs and leave them a still-living but non-threatening torso! Hidden enemies require certain tricks to find-- this is often done by interacting with the scenario's background, but sometimes you need to input a code or get a "perfect" or not use the block button. You can also use codes to taunt a defeated opponent! After beating all 8 regular opponents you face a couple boss characters, and finally Nekron. Uncover all hidden fighters and beat them and then the game, and you get a special number to call to get yourself put in the game BLOODSTORM 2.. which unfortunately never materialized. If you dig vs. fighting games that have tons of secrets, this is your kind of game! Definitely an improvement over the original (Time Killers).
