Remnant: From the Ashes. Perhaps not a game readily associated with pretty red cocktails, but when you're knee-deep in horrible beasties and need a quick boost, popping the cork off a Bloodwort will see you through. You hope, anyway.

Given that Jack is such a big fan of this game, it was innevitable we'd end up here - recreating this drink in real life, using both the in-game recipe and also our own unique take.

So why two recipes?

Look, the official Bloodwort is fabulous. A great dessert cocktail, and perfect for someone who isn't used to the more complex, dry drinks that are prevalent in cocktail circles. The Amaretto and Cranberry Juice completely overpower this drink making it super sweet, which for us is a blessing and a curse, depending how you like your cocktails. However, it's missing something key - a key ingredient from the lore. Red leaves.

Jack's take on the Bloodwort pares down the sweet ingredients as well as the dual spirit to simplify the beverage (let's be real - those two whiskies don't both come through) and adding Campari - our 'red leaves' component, with a sort-of medicinal, botanical flavour that we feel better fits the drink's intent.

1 oz Bourbon
1 oz Amaretto
2 oz Cranberry Juice

2 oz Bourbon
0.5 oz Cranberry Juice
0.5 oz Amaretto
0.5 oz Campari
