Bloons TD 6 - Etienne/Druid Only CHIMPS
I tried testing the waters with Ezili, but then realized...oh right, Ezili/Druid Only CHIMPS would brick on Round 45's Camo Purples. In fact, I figure the only Heroes who would avoid bricking would be Etienne and Geraldo, the latter via See Invisibility Potion. Churchill and Brickell would both need to purchase level ups to avoid bricking on Round 24's Camo Green, and Psi would need to hit Level 20 (on his slow Levels curve too) by Round 90 as well or the DDTs will suffocate him. I can't think of anybody else who could get this going.
If you don't get it, Druid's only upgrade levels where they have Camo detection is at T5 (Superstorm) and at M5 (Spirit of the Jungle). Superstorm costs too much, and Spirit of the Jungle has inefficient damage output against blimps. Top crosspathing can help the latter by allowing the Lead damage, but it will NOT suffice for bringing down the DDTs. But there is one answer: if the B5 upgrade Avatar of Wrath, again with Hard Thorns to allow for Lead damage, could hit Camos, he'd have the best chance for addressing DDTs. He naturally doesn't hit Camos on his own ever. Guess who fixes that and allows me to see the results that show up here?
It's nice to realize how the Druid paths have different MOs. Top path wants to position for lineup attacks while still being able to issue sendback; middle path can act as a sniper against key targets; and bottom path especially just plain enjoys floods and slow targets. Bottom path even has me respond to Round 79's Regrow Rainbows saying "we're going to flood you" with "you do that."
That, in tandem with how I'm also realizing that Poplust boosts the other primary path Druids to have me feeling better about it, has me realize that there's still significant balance concerns to say the least with Druid's upgrades. I had all of the Wrath path Druids go top crosspath because they only pop Leads (and DDTs by extension) that way. The Jungle path Druid went top crosspath as well because bottom crosspath just provides minor extra attack speed and range, which is clearly going to help a full screen attack that is practically only staggered by the Hit Rest factor for repeatedly hitting anything on screen. And the Thunder path Druid? He gets bottom crosspath for that extra range and speed. What, you think I'm going to be concerned about the Regrows that will get stifled by either the flood control Wrath Druids or the full screen repeat hitting of the Jungle Druid? At that point, I'd rather he hit DDTs more frequently.
Of course, there's the Thunder Druid path in and of itself, although the Tiers 3 and 4 aren't too bad, but we should consider that UAV doesn't help their Tier 5, but how convenient, that costs too much money for viable use here. If you think it's viable to save up $65K (excluding the difficulty modifier), then please tell me how Ball Lightning helps enough against Fortified targets or the DDTs. Yeah, I didn't think so. Meanwhile, Avatar of Wrath, who DOES benefit from UAV, manages plenty of bang for his buck, although Spirit of the Jungle costs less still and has his benefit from UAV being limited. Even so, Etienne's influence is a mix between Etienne having a unique (or at least near unique, GERALDO) mechanic bypass with its definite implications for the Crosspath system, and upgrades that work off of getting Camo needing review to make sure that they're providing good utility features.
I dunno. I imagine Druids are supposed to be relaxing to use, hence their sole activation being a money maker that kind of doesn't help in CHIMPS, to have their usability there boil down to how their passive combat fares. I just have to bring up these issues in the interest of having variety promoted.
So to summarize what needs a look for balance with Druid:
-Superstorm
-Heart of Thunder (for Jungle path's upper levels due to scaling; Avatar of Wrath actually gets +50% extra Damage bonus from RBE on the screen)
-Heart of Oak (for both Thunder and Wrath paths)
-Heart of Vengeance (for Jungle path)
