Bluckles the Echidna!? Color Glitch in Sonic 3 & Knuckles (Sega Genesis) - A Wild Glitch Appears!
641In Sonic 3 & Knuckles for the Sega Genesis, there's a glitch that allows you to play as Blue Knuckles. This "character" is often called Bluckles in the Sonic community, and is essentially Knuckles the Echidna with the blue color palette used by Sonic the Hedgehog.

First, you'll need to access the Sonic 3 & Knuckles Debug Mode. Some guy named me made a video about this a while back, so here it is - • Sonic 3 & Knuckles Level Select and D...
Note that this is different from the code that unlocks Debug Mode in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (without Knuckles).
Anyway, with Debug Mode unlocked, access the Level Select screen and choose Carnival Night Zone Act 2 while holding the A button.
On Carnival Night Zone Act 2, press the B button to activate the debugging - your character should turn into a ring. Now hold RIGHT until you reach the end of the stage.
Refer to the video to see where to position yourself. I scrolled the screen up just slightly, then positioned the ring icon just below the top of that weird square shape in the background, then I held RIGHT for a long time because the goal here is to loop all the way around the stage.
So hold RIGHT and your ring icon will exit the screen then eventually return from the left. At some point while this is happening, the left side of the screen will change. When your ring icon reappears on screen, immediately stop.
Move back a little bit to the left, then move up. The lower right portion of the screen should change to a blue color. Great! Now move all the way up and then move right to enter the next room. Move down a little bit, then press B and your character should fall to the floor which looks a little glitchy.
Now pause the game and press A to reset. On the title screen, hit start and scroll to the NO SAVE game. You should see some glitchy graphics on the file select screen, which means you're doing it right!
Start a NO SAVE game, and BOOM! You should begin Angel Island Zone Act 1 as BLUE KNUCKLES.
From here, you should be able to pause at any time and press A to reset again. Going to the Level Select screen should show you the number 80 under where it says Angel Island. Now you can take Bluckles to any zone on the level select.
