It’s been 4,711 days since the Atlanta Thrashers played their last game repping the city.

On April 10, 2011, the Thrashers lost 5-2 to the Pittsburgh Penguins in front of a home crowd of more than 16,000 people. The next season, the team moved north of the border to become the resurrected Winnipeg Jets.

The wounds haven’t healed for many Atlanta hockey fans and the hope for a third Atlanta NHL franchise has not died; plans for a new arena in Forsyth County are contingent on its owners receiving an NHL franchise.
