Possibly a Cambarus (Jugicambarus) monogalensis "Blue Mountain Crayfish"

I found this guy in the bottom of my pond crawling around. I live about 300 yards from where this guy would normally be found... which is typically in hillsides, springs, and seeps. What is interesting about this crayfish, is they will borrow into the earth and tend to live more in mud and earth then in streams.

They are native to Northern West Virginia and western Pennsylvania. I discovered alot of people consider the blue coloration to be one of the more attractive crayfish species.

I have seen two of these before, but it was a cool surprise to see one found its way into my pond! Already had a nice size black snake and a variety of dragonflys make an appearance.

Most of the research I found on Crayfish in ponds seems like they won't be much of a threat to the fish. They eat the litter on the bottom and any fish they can catch... But typically they won't eat any of them.
