Board Game Discussion - Rehash and Rebuild
12This is a topic I've discussed in bits and pieces all through making my videos here on YT - where board gaming is going and, by extension, how it parallels other entertainment genres, particularly movies/TV and video games.
More and more, we're seeing games being reskinned for another property, SO many expansions, variants, promo bonuses, and, for lack of a better term, reboots. Sure, it's been happening for awhile now, but it seems that it's getting worse nowadays. Maybe I'm just crazy, but that's what I'm seeing.
Most importantly, what do YOU all think? I've only been into board gaming for about a decade - how does it compare to previous years? Cosmic Encounter first released in the late 70's and had numerous expansions and iterations since, so clearly not a "new" problem, but, is it worse now? Let me know what you think in the comments!
