Bomb Jumps (the easy way) in Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES) - A Wild Glitch Appears! #shorts
In The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past for the Super Nintendo, you can abuse bombs to boost yourself over gaps and holes that Link normally shouldn't be able to cross. Using a bomb to blast yourself over a pit is usually called a bomb jump, and there are multiple ways to do it. This video showcases the easy way to do a bomb jump.
One of the best places to make use of the bomb jump trick is in the Tower of Hera, since the dungeon's treasure is located just across a small pit that Link can't normally jump over. This treasure chest contains the Moon Pearl which is an item that allows Link to retain his human-ish form in the Dark World.
To get the Moon Pearl normally, you have to fall from a specific hole in the floor above the treasure. It's not too hard to do, but using a bomb jump can get you to the Moon Pearl a few seconds faster. This trick saves maybe like 15 seconds in a speedrun.
One way to do a bomb jump is to have Link stand 1-2 pixels away from a gap or ledge with his back toward the gap and place a bomb. If you're close enough to the gap, the blast will knock Link over the pit. This can be difficult to set up, however, since you have to get incredible close to the gap, and you might fall in.
If Link is in the air when the bomb blast hits him, however, he can be up to 6 pixels away from the ledge, and the blast knockback will still get him over the ledge. So, if Link bonks into a wall using the Pegasus Shoes and lands on top of the bomb blast, he will be boosted over the gap. This is a much more reliable method for crossing the gap to get to the Moon Pearl.
You'll have to time it so Link lands on the bomb's explosion after hitting the wall, so the best way to do it is like this: Get relatively close to the gap, then turn around and place a bomb. Now face left (or right, I guess it doesn't matter) then immediately charge into the wall with your Pegasus Shoes. When you land, slam into the wall with your Pegasus Shoes again, and this second bonk will be timed just right so that Link lands on the explosion and gets blasted over the gap.
There are other bomb jump methods that can be abused in other parts of ALttP for great effect, so maybe I'll get to those another time.
