So this game was given to me as part of OJMachine and Retrogaminglivetv's "Jankmas in July" event. OJ noted he didn't want to go at me TOO hard with the jank, as I'd be streaming the game for two hours, and two hours of actual suffering (As opposed to performative suffering and/or rage you'll sometimes see streamers/Youtubers putting on) isn't fun for anyone.
The result was this game, which was at least somewhat popular at some point--no less than 6 of my Steam friends had played it according to Steam. It tries to put its own spin on the Diablo formula; that said, the plot is clearly "Extremely inspired" by Diablo, let's say. It's close enough that I'm still not sure if it was affectionate parody, loving homage, UNaffectionate parody, or just blatant ripoff. The aesthetic and tone suggest some combination of the first two, but I haven't 100% twigged it yet.
Regardless, while a bit simple--you're stuck on fixed paths as you traverse the dungeon--the game is fun enough and scratches my Diablo-like craving for the moment.
