Borderlands 3 - Running with Typhon (Spoilers)
This is close to the end of the game. I'm using an assault rifle with smart bullets, a shock shotgun, shock 2x sniper rifle, and a rocket launcher that has mortar launcher mode.
The start of the video was gameplay that I liked - advancing through alien exotic territory with an NPC, with a steady stream of varied enemies. They spawn in rather than simply already being there, which was a welcome change of pace. The pace and action and difficulty felt just right, although it could have stood to be a little harder - my smart bullet assault rifle is mostly an I win button. It might have just been because of the weapons I had, but this was the most fun I had in the game, shallow and momentary as it was. I might have been a little over-leveled for it, too.
The story is still weak throughout, and it didn't really get better at all from my first 1 hour impression. The hero's walk from Borderlands 2 is completely absent here. Having important things happen to characters that are important to the player is not enough to make a good story. Maybe the story would have been better served by the Guardians considering waging war on humanity, all while Tyreen and Troy are trying to become gods. I don't know. The story needed a backdrop of something for consideration if it wasn't going to offer personal hooks for the player. Things like that really even out the experience for me and give you something to ride on when the action quality is meh.
There were some occasional things in the game that made me laugh. My biggest laugh was from Claptrap's video game beta sidequest, where I had to escort a 'badly animated' and 'badly voiced' 'princess'. "Hey listen, Ahm under attahck!" She walked stiff, stuck in a T pose, and when revived, she flips the wrong way. It's cheap gags but still funny, all things considered.
As is the norm, I notice things when watching the video, not when playing - I fire at Lilith thinking she's a bad buy and I don't notice the green name above her, etc. Who cares, that only happens 1% of the time.
And this is my first video longer than 10 minutes! Time really flew when I was recording this, and it seems like a fun watch, so I figured I'd upload it. The cut scenes didn't record with a good frame rate, but the rest turned out good.
