So, after taking care of the backstabbing Meriff (I Shot the Meriff) we head on out to complete some more random side quests. The first involves what I can only assume is a reference to Star Wars and their Pod racing, then we murdered a bunch of Scavs with Laser weapons and I think this is when something dawn on me. Up till this point, the majority of elemental weapons we’ve been given have been Fire-based but, during this mission, I was painfully reminded that you can’t set someone on fire while in space. I was thinking about this for a while but, whenever you look at Elemental weapons, there is usually two different sources of damage. You have your regular weapon damage and you have elemental damage (in this case, it would be fire damage) but, what I’ve been wondering about is, does the elemental damage still occur with every bullet or does it only occur when the enemy is afflicted by it (for example, if they are on fire or being electrocuted etc.). If it the latter, then wouldn’t that mean that all the fire weapons are basically usually in space since they would do less damage because the enemy would never catch on fire. It seems odd though since the entire idea of fire weapons is to use on enemies that don’t have armor/large shields since they do more damage to regular health but, if that damage is negated by the entire environment, then what would be the point in using a fire weapon? Most elemental weapons do less damage in general (because of the elemental damage; if they did base amount of damage like a Jakobs and had the elemental damage, they would be overpowered) so by taking away that, are they not just nerfed weapons when used in outer space (which, as far as I can tell, is where we have spent most of our time in)?
