there's so much happening in the world
and I can't say anything about it
without feeling like an idiot
i wish i had something profound
or interesting to say
but all i'm getting are these words
and this boring melody
there's always so much happening in the world
that if i wrote a specific song
i'd lock that song to a place and time
which is pretty cool in one sense
but in another is kind of lame
meanwhile people are dying
and i sing this boring melody
if i were a better writer
or a true freedom fighter
or the fluid in a lighter
i could sing
but I'm just a guy that sits here
writing a song a day here
and I've got nothing to say here
but my boring melody
just sing what's on your mind
and eventually you'll find
someday you'll have something to say
and you'll be ready to play it
you'll be ready to say it
even if for now all you got is just one long boring melody
