There were no more citizens in the Profaned Capital. The gargoyles were broken. Any who survived the blaze of the Profaned Flame had gone mad long ago. Sitting lonely on his throne, surveying his razed kingdom, was Yhorm.
Yhorm only wanted to rule well. His people feared him due to his size, so he gave them access to his greatest weakness. Even in his own mind, he didn't trust himself so he also gave such a weapon to a knight he trusted dearly. If ever his values should change, he knew that knight would stop him.
He learned of the Profaned Flame long before it ravaged his land and sought to end its dangerous existence. Yhorm thought to link the fire to appease it, but fate can be cruel. When Yhorm linked the fire, the Profaned Flame flared out and violently set the capital ablaze.
Yhorm had become disillusioned with the linking of the flame. In his mind, the linking had destroyed his subjects and his beloved land. He wanted nothing more to do with the ceremony of the linking and abandoned his duty as a Lord of Cinder.
So there Yhorm sat, amongst his long dead subjects, alone with his thoughts, awaiting the day where he'd be freed from his duty. Whether it be by the fire dying out, or his life coming to an end, Yhorm waited alone...
