A player of mine has been playing a multi-classed Bard 6/Sorcerer 4. He has taken a variety of spells which he feels are integral to his characters personality due to his Draconic Origin (Blue dragon), such as lightning bolt. The various influences of electricity weigh heavily on my campaign and he has tried to embrace them as part of his character.
While looking over my multi-class options with this player for another campaign we realized that we have been allowing him to learn spells of a higher level than he should be able too, all the way up to level 5 for both classes. Because he feels that these higher level spells are an important part of his character he wants to retire the character and start fresh.
I am very reluctant to just let a well thought out and interesting character just fade to black because of a rules issue, especially when the player enjoys playing it. What suggestions do you have to remedy this problem
