Bounce Longplay (Commodore Vic-20 Game)
Bounce is a 1995 maze game for the Commodore VIC-20, developed by Jeffrey Daniels. In Bounce, players navigate mazes to complete objectives while avoiding guards and racing against the clock. The primary goal is to find your way through the mazes to rescue a character while dodging guards. If you fail to escape within 30 seconds, the guards set off a bomb, adding a sense of urgency to your task.
The mazes contain various objects that are integral to the gameplay. When touched, these objects "bounce" to new positions within the maze. Players must interact with the objects in a specific sequence, requiring careful planning and strategy.
That said, handling the objects can be tricky—swiping them diagonally might bounce them out of the playfield entirely, adding a layer of precision to the gameplay. Additionally, Bounce features hidden levels and surprises, rewarding exploration and persistence and keeping players engaged.
This mix of maze navigation, object manipulation, and time-sensitive challenges makes Bounce a unique entry in the Commodore VIC-20 library, blending strategy and action with a touch of unpredictability.
I really like it, honestly. I think it’s a little gem in the VIC-20 library. Its only "drawback" is that it was released in 1995, long after the VIC-20's heyday. I say this because I would have loved to play it as a child, during the system’s prime. In any case, kudos to its creator—Bounce stands as a testament to the lasting appeal of the VIC-20.
