Coco-Notes Longplay (Commodore 64 Game) -

Coco-Notes is an educational music game developed by The Dovetail Group, Inc. and published by CBS Software in 1984 for the Commodore 64. The game offers four distinct modes designed to teach musical concepts through interactive play. In "Catch a Coco-Note," players use a fishing pole to select notes from a pool, which then form a melody performed by a band.

"Composin' Coco-Notes" builds upon this by adding accompaniment to the melodies. "Beat The Clam" introduces a competitive element, where players race against a clam to collect notes, aiming for high scores while avoiding the clam that can disrupt their fishing line.

The "Beat The Clam -- Challenge" mode increases the difficulty with a faster clam adversary. That said, it’s practically impossible to lose to the clam, even with your hands tied—but then again, it’s a kids’ game.

These engaging activities aimed to make learning music enjoyable for children, so the competitive aspect takes a back seat to the fun and educational experience.
