Challenging the bosses at Halls of Tribulation I, located west of Halcyonia. Named after the fact they all taught younger generations of their ways.
Key Notes:
- This area only opens up after you've defeated (Young) Sir Sloan at his grave, right before going into Chapter 7.
- My runs against all of these bosses are mirror matches (unless they are short one member). YOU DO NOT NEED TO DO IT THE WAY I DO IT. I only do it just for fun.
General Halls of Tribulation info:
- The previous Asterisk bearers are paired up in special teams, regardless if some of them are dead or alive.
- They all have much better moves than the last time you fought them.
- More often than not, they have their own exclusive moves that you can't even learn from the expanded skills. So, yes, they are kind of cheating.
- They all have exclusive battle intro lines. However, they do not have more special dialogue and do not comment on one of their members falling.
- They all drop very exclusive weapons that carry ALL the passive skills of their respective former jobs. However, these are rare drops (the Gambler's Rare Talent will only yield you Giant JP Orbs, so unequip it to have more chances to get the weapons). Likewise, they have items to steal.
- And because of the above, they can be refought any time after getting beaten.

- Sir Sloan tries to ensure that his team is rich in BP, yours is poor in BP, and most of the time will try to screw you over using very large fixed damage. Emma is the magical offensive member of the team using high-end spells (and Poison). Lonsdale makes sure to give his side negating shields for specific attacks...twice when used once.
- In order, Emma needs to go first as she's the weakest member, go after Lonsdale second as keeping him around will only prolong the battle due to him constantly putting up shields to utterly negate your huge hits on Sir Sloan, and finally defeat Dunban for last...no, seriously. If you take him down first but take time to defeat the rest, he will revive with around 7,000 HP.
- Although Emma can absorb spells for the same amount of damage she's dealt, your Black Mage's High-Velocity Spells won't be able to negate her absorption because apparently her absorption triggers after she's damaged, but it still counts as her not getting damaged in the same turn, putting an end to your Elvis trying to beat her at her own game (unless you bring a Beastmaster and lower her HP to 1 to end her with a staff smack).
Second Speciality Talk
- The Bravebearer's True Grit is a generic extra BP every turn. May be very helpful, though. It means you can always do two actions at 0 BP.
- The Bastion's Fortitude is almost like Double Default, except you need to be attacked while Defaulting to gain an extra BP...and more, being a very potential BP-gaining ability.
- The Black Mage's High-Velocity Spells makes offensive spells bypass immunities and (natural) absorbing effects, though resistances aren't bypassed. Useful for when you want spells to damage at all costs.
- If you have beaten all Halls of Tribulation, you should probably inspect that strange monument at Rimedhal's graveyard, but be REALLY prepared...
