I have opted for a defensive tactic because Orthros P.Atk is quite low compared to optional bosses, sporting only 312. All Breath attacks use P.Atk and go against P.Def. Knowing this, an unbuffed P.Def of 208 is enough to reduce damage taken to 1 during battle (using Ironclad to get P.Def to 150% straight away and Buff Up to keep it there).

After taking care of the defense, it is just a matter of chipping him away, which was going a lot faster than what I expected originally.
