Breaks, but not Broken - A Proto Man Tribute
53Got one of my favorite The Megas songs stuck in my head recently and got me thinking about Proto Man. While I am a bigger fan of the blue bomber, Rock, I do have a lot of respect and care for Blues and his character as well. He is incredibly compelling and deep, especially when viewed in the vacuum of the Mega Man games. I think there is a lot of depth that can be found in Rock as well, yet you have to dig a little deeper for it and borrow from outside media for it. Blues however is such a tragic character no matter where you find him, so I wanted to make a short little tribute to him because this song slaps.
"I'm Not The Break Man" is an example of The Megas at their finest. The lyrics hit incredibly hard and encompass the immense rage and pain Blues feels throughout his journey. On top of the angsty yet melancholic melodies and harmonies from the electric guitar, it is the perfect song for the first robot master. He may have taken on the name of Break Man, however he has not broken yet. Got to respect the guy for pushing on in spite of everything he had been through.
If you have not heard anything from The Megas before now, check out this playlist with their best songs. Fans of Mega Man music or alternative rock are sure to enjoy their songs. I recommend starting with their "History Repeating: Blue" album as I think it the easiest to start with, then I would move on to either "History Repeating: Red" or "Get Equipped" and listen to those back to back. Leave "Megatainment" for last since it is definitely an acquired taste (took me multiple relistens before I realized I enjoy the tracks, yet it is not for everybody.
