Breath of Fire II SNES:{Bosses 4-6}: [Ryu Solo]
2I added DR. HIR and Katt for fun. Excuse me, I'm going to go pitch my tent at the gym. THOSE PECS AND ABS MAN. DAT TAN. HE ATTACKS WITH MUSCLE POSES BAHAHAHAHA.
The real crisis is Augus. He has a massive health pool (twice, if not three times larger than Baba (the boss)), can hit twice, and one of his attacks powers up his next phase of attacks. In Exemplum, if he uses the power-up as the first hit, he can score a double-damage hit next. If he uses the power-up at the end of a turn, it powers up his next phase of attacks (which is shown in the video).
Also, his critical hit chance is quite high. I'd rate it to be around 33%. In the same instance of the power-up and two attack phase combo, I also show off this critical hit madness with four consecutive critical hits made by me and the boss. Also, I defy death.
Guts is the stat in the menu that helps a character defy death, from a minimum value of 0% at worst to 25% at best. I was lucky this take, and was able to defy death and beat Augus, but this was the only successful attempt.
I know I used Fire Rock and that seems a little...pathetic, but here's my justification for it all: 1. I never explicitly stated I would not use items (Herbs are mandatory). 2. The Fire Rock reduces the time of the fight, and increases my survivability due to his critical hit chance and power-up phase. 3. It deals critical damage, almost 1/3rd of his health gone in one turn. 4. Most of the damage I deal with Ryu is from CtrAttack, since Augus does unbelievable damage and I have to heal most of the fight. 5. Finally, he can heal four times (16/16 AP Pool) and that saves him 160 health.
That's that. That was my rant/justification for why I suck too much to edit the Augus NPC file and change crit chance to 0%. Hope you all have enjoyed it so far, because there's always more to come. Busy working on Joker's goons, which are a bunch of assholes. And yeah, I'm Batman.
Post Scriptum: Had Augus been made to be faster than Ryu or Katt, he would be the #1 hardest boss in the game. No questions asked.
