I'm deep into dev mode on my Breeders simulation. Here's a short timelapse I took of the sim last night. I have some new growing, changing cactus and mushrooms as a part of the lifecycle of the sim.

I'm still trying to find a balance between complexity and performance for some of the plants. I'm sort of obsessed with the idea that every plant be different from it's siblings. I had the proof of concept earlier using a single morphing shape ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3m0UzlGFeE ) but it is too clunky to use in large numbers.

These TriCactus are much more manageable. It's likely that I'll end up using a mixture of the two techniques.

Breeders is a simulation of life based on very simple physics-based rules. It's an exploration of emergent behaviour, evolution and the therapeutic effects of tossing around large number of physically simulated objects.
