Britney Spears SETTLES divorce from third husband Sam Asghari nine months after split
Britney Spears has finally settled her divorce from third husband Hesam 'Sam' Asghari after a nine-month legal separation and only 14 months of marriage.
The 42-year-old Grammy winner and the 30-year-old Special Ops: Lioness actor are just waiting for the judge to sign off on the completed divorce paperwork filed by her powerful attorney Laura Wasser, according to TMZ.
Sam and his lawyer Neal Hirsh decided against contesting the prenuptial agreement, which protects Britney's reported $60M fortune.
The outlet had previously reported that Spears paid Asghari's rent at his new bachelor pad, and she was going to cut him a six-figure check - both of which are still unclear.
The Hold Me Closer hitmaker was rumored to have 'cheated' on the Iranian-born muscleman with a 'staff member' at her $11.8M Calabasas mansion, and he was once spotted with a black eye and bite marks on his arm amid domestic abuse allegations.
News that the former lovebirds settled their divorce comes after the pop star had to pay her father Jamie Spears' $2 million legal bill, in addition to the $4 million she reportedly spent on her lawyer.
Britney wasn't awarded anything in the settlement over the conservatorship with her father, and was said to be in a bigger financial hole than before.
According to The Sun, the reason why the case didn't go to court was because that would mean the singer would have to relive her most embarrassing moments.
A source said: 'Her legal team decided the focus should be on protecting her from reliving the traumas of her conservatorship.'
According to TMZ, Britney is furious about the outcome of the settlement after her attorney Mathew Rosengart assured her it was a solid case.
In legal filings obtained by the outlet, Jamie accused his daughter of using stall tactics to draw out the case.
Britney's dad served as her conservator throughout the 13-year conservatorship, which ended in 2021.
That June, she gave testimony about 'abusive' treatment she allegedly suffered during the conservatorship
She also accused Jamie of financial misconduct as her conservator, for which he was paid $16,000 a month and received a percentage of her tour gross revenues.
With the settlement, Britney and her father have avoided going to trial.
However an insider told DailyMail.com that Britney is not in 'serious danger of going broke.'
The source said: 'Britney shut off her Instagram account temporarily to take a break and spend time with her friends after settling the legal battle with her father Jamie.'
Adding: 'She did what was in her best interests to be done with him forever and she couldn't be happier. No one is fearing for Britney and she is far from going broke. Yes, she needs to curb her private jet usage but she is far from going broke – this is inaccurate.'
She is at the point of recoupment for her book and pulling in 25 per cent of net profits,' the source noted, referring to her memoir The Woman In Me, which was released last year.
On April 4, Britney posted (then deleted) an old video of herself dancing with Sam while pondering the 'crucial' notion of looking back at past relationships.
'If you know me, you know how I love - I love too much. It's embarrassing and I will love you for life! That's a trait I want to try and keep but it's not all peaches and cream as they say,' Spears wrote at the time.
'I used to be told all the time by someone I truly loved that, "There is no looking at that face of yours." My hopes in sharing is that by remembering that I can try and understand why I never feel good enough and to know it's okay to get inside my brain try to figure it out. Honestly, there is an all knowing spiritual eye that knows the truth and triggers to why we do things as people. It's important to go in there and figure it out yourself!'
And last December, the Mississippi-born singer wrote: 'It's so weird being single. I've had a lot of time to really look back with all the good and bad. I've realized I don't talk to myself that nicely at all. I'm easily manipulated and I wear my heart on my sleeve.'
Britney and Sam tied the knot on June 9, 2022 at a star-studded ceremony inside her former Thousand Oaks mansion less than a month after they suffered a miscarriage, and they had planned on 'continuing to try to expand our beautiful family' which did not happen.
'I have an appreciation for how stable he is,' Spears wrote of Asghari in her NY Times-bestselling 2023 memoir The Woman In Me.
'I love that he doesn't drink. He's a gift from God.'
