Tom Schwartz & Tom Sandoval bar-goers shade Jax Taylor and chant to ‘turn off’ The Valley at ‘packed’ Schwartz & Sandy’s
Tom Schwartz and Tom Sandoval bar-goers have threw shade at The Valley during a Vanderpump Rules viewing party, The U.S. Sun can exclusively reveal.
Bravo fans gathered at Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz's restaurant as a new episode of Vanderpump Rules aired on April 30.
The Franklin Village eatery, which reportedly was "dead" on some weekends, had a "packed" house on Tuesday evening.
An insider revealed to The U.S. Sun that all the tables at Schwartz & Sandy's were full and there were a bunch of people standing by the bar as the show played on the TV screens.
Schwartz, himself, was there, but business partner and pal Sandoval wasn't able to make it since he's on tour with his band, Tom Sandoval & The Most Extras.
At the end of the show at 9pm PT, Schwartz grabbed the mic and asked the crowd whether they wanted to watch The Valley, which aired immediately after VPR, or if they'd rather listen to music.
"The Valley or music?" he asked customers, per the insider.
They then shouted, "Music, music!" and The Valley was overruled by majority.
Schwartz proceeded to turn down the TV volume and connect his Bluetooth to play some hits for the bar.
The Valley, starring Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright, continued to air on the TV screens with subtitles.
According to the insider, fans began to stroll out of Schwartz & Sandy's as The Valley was playing and by 10pm, there were only a handful of people left in the bar despite it being open until midnight.
WHAT'S GOING ON?
The business partners have been hosting viewing parties at their restaurant ever since the new season of VPR premiered.
Fortunately, each week there has been a great turnout, The U.S. Sun has learned, but otherwise, business reportedly still suffers.
Following Scandoval - Tom's affair with Raquel Leviss - the Los Angeles lounge had lost a lot of customers after fans left negative reviews online and it became a "toxic" environment.
The bar "barely" draws in a big crowd, especially on the weekends, multiple sources have told The U.S. Sun.
"It's been dead on weekends," one insider spilled.
On Saturday, March 9, the day before the Oscars when many people were in town for Hollywood's biggest night, another source revealed at the time, "There were less than 10 people inside between the hours of 10 pm to midnight."
Food was not served after 10 pm and the staff also appeared to be downsized with three staff members running the front of the house.
Two months ago Tom said in an interview that the restaurant is "not closing," but he can't say what the future holds.
"I mean, listen, you never know a year from now, but right now we have a synergy and a momentum we haven’t had in a long time.
"Something feels different. We have some magic going again," Tom remarked, while adding they made changes to the music program.
SMALL CHANGES
The Toms have attempted to change things up, such as updating the menu and cocktail list, in hopes of bringing back customers.
In March 2024, The U.S. Sun reported the menu has been slashed since the once-eight signature cocktail list now features only four.
In addition, they got rid of an appetizer and replaced it with a new dessert, Strawberry Schwartz Cake.
Updates to the menu are expected to take place over the next few months as viewing parties for Vanderpump Rules continue.
"It’s like a Schwarz & Sandy’s Resuscitation 2.0, a resurgence, and it feels good," Schwartz said in the past.
