Session 1
We open up approaching Solaria on the map, all the way to the northeast part of the River Kingdoms. In the capital city of Sunspire, we see the streets are not as crowded as expected of the metropolis. There's masked individuals walking the streets, and the citizens seem nervous.
In a temple of Abadar, we see Eckhard talking to an older man, Caeius. He receives his orders to set off to Varnhold and meet a cleric there; before leaving, he asks whether he should consider the new leadership legitimate. Caeius replies that he should remain neutral to the public, at least at first.
As he wanders outside towards the northern gate, he notices two masked individuals have been following him. He turns to confront/acknowledge them, and they ask what god he woships and why is it not Godfrey. He gives a diplomatic response and they move on, letting him on with a warning/veiled threat.
Eventually he arrives at the caravan. There's some interesting individuals there that are being guarded by Apostles.
Venwyvar is there, working as a horse groom. His employer, a dwarf merchant specializing in metals, is going to Varnhold for trade. He seems somewhat suspicious of him, but lets it go without much questioning.
Back to Eckhard, he is being greeted by a young woman, an initiate of Abadar (Sarah). She is a complete mess, in the nicest way possible. She is to be his assistant, and is very excited about it.
Well, the caravan eventually sets off.
We pan over the mountains to a smaller city, Varnhold.
It is bustling with people! Lots of traders and workers walking about. Half the guards are wearing the typical Solarian armor, while the rest are not.
In the Clumsy Bear tavern's alley, Mikhael is talking to Perry.
He is eating liquorice from Svetlania. From a specific shop, uncommon in this area. Anyway, they complete their information trade; Perry tells them that the Queen is in Varnhold and some musketeers that escaped from Sunspire are planning on blowing up the pass to the city, killing the caravan of Apostles at the same time.
Mikhael makes some insensitive comment about the credibility of this information and Perry gets offended, running away. Benny hill music starts playing as they chase after him.
In the plains near Varnhold that the Centaurs call their home, we pan over to Bix, a gnome hunter, and his giant weasel, Pauly. He sees some centaurs in the distance, having a conversation. He recogizes one, as he's traded with him before - he can also tell that they are warriors, ready for a fight. Pauly is agitated.
He sees a musketeer arrive and look towards the centaurs. They meet and talk; Bix tries to listen in, but can't quite make out what they're saying. The man seems to be pleading for something, but the centaur is having none of it. The centaur says King Frederick is gone, and therefore their treaty is nullified. The man seems very upset, understandably, and he rides away.
Back at the caravan, they've been travelling for a few days at this point. Eckhard is trying to overhear what the Apostles are seeking in Varnhold. Sadly, all he hears them talk about is their garbage tenets.
They do mention that they are planning to talk to the Mayor and coerce him into working for Godfrey. Sarah interrupts him by being nosy and generally adorable. Also a disaster, you know, as expected.
At the same time, Ven (literally) bumps into an Apostle - she is a young woman who looks very familiar. She actually seems kinda nice, unlike most Apostles. At some point she tries to act all imposing and important when he mentions she's an Apostle, but it seems forced. She definitely seems hesitant about the whole being-an-asshole thing that being an Apostle requires.
She drags Ven over to Eckhard and pays for a healing spell - Ven protests, but goes along with it.
They are suddenly interrupted by a different Apostle, who scolds her for helping "those not of the faith". Thankfully the confrontation doesn't escalate, and all is well.
Back to Mikhael, they catch up to Perry and ask him for more information; he extorts him for a bit, but he learns about a musketeer in the Clumsy Bear Tavern and also buys off a Royal Topaz.
It seems kinda magical, and they hear a voice saying "help me" as they hold it.
They go to the Clumsy Bear Tavern, at the same time Bix arrives. They sit down together and notice the musketeer from earlier meet with a few other covert musketeers. Mikhael shares the information they learned about the Musketeers' plans, Bix tells them about the centaurs, everyone is up to date with the important things!
Sadly, while they were talking about the whole thing, the Musketeers disappear. P A NI C ensues...
