In 2011, a year after the release of "Brothers in Arms 2: Global Front", Gameloft removed the game from all store fronts and re-released the game as Brothers in Arms 2: Global Front Free+, now free of charge with micro-transactions introduced in its stead

While the overall story remained the same, each mission was now split up into multiple smaller missions, with side missions also introduced in-between, re-using maps from the campaign to add extra content to the game. Health no longer regenerated and ammo pick ups were removed, both replaced with an in-game storefront to purchase med-kits and ammo using in-game currency (dog tags). Sprinting and taking cover were both removed from the game for some reason, limiting the gameplay quite severely. If you died, you would be given the option to spend a premium currency to respawn and if you did not have enough coins available, you would need to wait for a cooldown timer before you could re-try the mission again. Of course, to avoid this from happening, or to purchase better weapons or upgrades, you could always spend real world money via micro-transactions to purchase the in-game currencies yourself...
