Maki serves as the combat tutorial, and as such isn't really much of a challenge even on Hardest difficulty. In fact, even though Hardest difficulty doubles the damage he does, it's impossible to lose this fight. At worst, he might kill Vi if he attacks her twice and you don't block the second hit (the first hit is blocked automatically), but as the fight ends automatically once Maki attacks three times he won't be able to kill Kabbu before then.

At the time I recorded this I assumed it _was_ possible to lose and that was why I recorded it in the first place, but turns out I was mistaken. Even so, the damage increase from normal really shows what you're in for when you play a file with HARDEST enabled.

Bug Fables is a 2019 turn-based RPG created by Moonsprout Games and published by DANGEN Entertainment. It is heavily inspired by the original two Paper Mario games (Paper Mario 64 and Paper Mario: The Thousand Year door) and can be seen as a spiritual successor to them, although it has plenty of quirks of its own.

This playthrough was done on Hardest Mode. This isn't quite the same thing as using the Hard Mode medal, although that's part of it. HARDEST is one of the menu codes uncovered by doing certain things in the game, which serve as mutators when entered into the naming screen when creating a new file.

-The game is permanently in Hard Mode.
-Wearing the Hard Mode medal turns Team Snakemouth into Pibu.
-All enemies have 15% more HP and deal 1 more damage.
-After defeating Chapter 2's boss: all enemies deal 1 more damage.
-After starting Chapter 4: all enemies have 1 more defense.
-Members of a certain lategame optional boss team have 1 additional point of damage and defense.
