As of my experience, Reddit has observed this bug 26 days ago. I almost quit the game here, which would have been unfortunate as I enjoy The Gunk greatly; this game is gorgeous and the OST has been peaceful with the exploring. However, I was curious to see if repeating the order I activated the bridge would result in this bug triggering again and it did not.

So I will continue to play, but it seems that there are other game-breaking bugs. Hopefully I don't encounter any that force me back too far.
