Build quality issue: my Xbox Elite Controller (Series 1) is finally falling apart

I purchased the Microsoft Elite Controller (Series 1) in December 2015. With taxes, this controller cost me almost $165 US. I've had an absolute blast with this controller, logging in serious hours over many years (across the OG Xbox, the Xbox One X, and the PC). But I'm having some build quality issues that upset me:

1. Three sets of replacement bumpers
2. Peeling of rubberized grips
3. Sloppy analog trigger

This begs the question, do I really need a Series 2? Or should I stick with my tried and true DualShock 4 controller, which is two years OLDER than this controller (and still has no build issues)?
