Building Tools for Jakarta EE and MicroProfile Developers
Presented by Grace Jansen (IBM) at EclipseCon 2022.
Yes, I want to build my cloud-native Java applications with MicroProfile and Jakarta EE. Then, do I have to build everything from scratch? Are there tools that will make coding my application easier and what are the latest ones in development? What technologies are behind the development of these tools? Join us as we answer these questions, demonstrate the available tools in action and look at how they were built.
MicroProfile seeks to optimize enterprise Java for microservices architecture and its APIs are gaining momentum and popularity. Jakarta EE is an open set of APIs that enables the worldwide community of Java developers to build applications for enterprises. Both MicroProfile and Jakarta EE are openly developed cloud-native Java APIs often used together to develop cloud-native Java applications.
In this session, we will examine the tools that can make your developer life easier as you code MicroProfile and Jakarta EE-based applications for cloud and the technologies behind these tools. These tools help developers throughout the development lifecycle, from creating a new application, working with compatible runtimes and your favourite editor, to testing your application. We will review tools currently available to Jakarta EE and MicroProfile developers and the efforts like the Eclipse LSP4Jakarta and Eclipse LSP4MP projects to build such tools. Then, we will discuss gaps in the tooling and take a look at what may be coming next for the community. We invite you to join in on the efforts to build good modern tools for Jakarta EE and MicroProfile developers.
