I first played the original DOOM back in the 90s on the PCs we had at school. We hadn't had the PCs all that long, having mainly been using BBC computers until then. The PCs we had were only just about able to run DOOM. The game was unlike anything I'd seen before. The first full version of DOOM I had that ran well was the original PlayStation version, with its more garish colour pallette and (in my opinion) superior music.

I had to get an Xbox in order to play DOOM 3, but it was worth it. The graphics on the original Xbox version of DOOM 3 still amaze me to this day. It was also great to have a version closer to the PC version when I got DOOM 3 BFG Edition on PlayStation 3. I really liked DOOM 3, even though it's much slower-paced than DOOM and DOOM II.

The faster-paced gameplay of this new DOOM seems to work pretty well, although I do sometimes have difficulty seeing where the enemies are coming from.

Hopefully I won't end up as one doomed space marine!
