Burai Fighter (Deluxe) is a pretty good shooter for the Game Boy by Taxan. In the game, you have more control over your character than the average old-school ship shooter and can shoot in eight directions (though not with the same ease as, say, Forgotten Worlds). You can shoot off bombs and gain three different weapons. The weapons have their differences at low levels, but they are most varied when powered to the max by collecting ten of the same letter. Difficulty changes effect how many hits enemies take to defeat as well as the waves you'll face. The game is much easier than most shooters I've played. Ken Lobb chimes in this game and gives you respect if you do well (similarly to other game's he's been in like Taito's KickMaster).

The game has a strange glitch. Depending on how the cart is inserted, you will die as soon as a level boss comes on screen, but the game will seem normal up until that point. The only way to know is to get to the end. If you die, re-insert the cartridge. Enjoy.
