Tsuppari Oozumou: Risshin Shussehen Game Sample - SNES/SFC
Original Air Date: October 01st, 2009
If you're not a fan of "Sumo-Wrestling", then you probably won't get much out of this game, but as it stands, this is supposed to be one of the "great" Oozumo games out there, and one of several Tecmo-brand Oozumo games. There are several modes that can be accessed and several characters to fight against, including one female wrestler.
The bulk of the game is the exhibition mode where you fight against many different sumo-wrestlers and improve your stats as you go. During the exhibition, you can play various mini-games to further improve your power (though you're almost always outclassed, stat-wise). For example, one mini-game is to press buttons as quickly as possible to destroy a building by pushing and striking with your palm. The graphics are simple but clean and the music is okay. I also like the various comical ways that you can defeat opponents.
There's just one problem... you can tragically defeat almost every opponent with ease simply by bashing the "Y" button to slap opponents silly, as they're obssessed with grabbing and throwing (even the ones who seem unbeatable otherwise). While wrestling with the opponent can be fun at times, some computer opponents are almost impossible to beat with throws as they almost always throw you first. This video shows the characters and I defeat a few opponents before letting myself get beat at the end. Enjoy.
