Burning Rangers - Testing Yabause Devmiyax build - Gameplay
Burning Rangers running flawlessly on Yabause devmiyax build (you will notice the great graphics using OpenGL+Bilinear filter + GPU Tesseration ON).
You can see there is no impact on FPS in game, all is running at 60 fps all the time. Obviously there are still some glitches but you can play properly. Voices are a bit low, and with stereo much lower so i changed it to mono.
Developed by Sonic Team (fathers of Sonic) this game remains a bit underrated but certainly has a fresh concept and really good features. For example:
You save people instead of killing them, and when you do so, the survivors write emails to you (not real emails of course) to let you know how it is going in his 'new life'. This 'emotional reward' is something that probably you haven't seen before 1998 (year the game was released) and even today this is not an usual feature or idea.
The levels change every time you play with a very complex system, changing survivors, corridors and rooms so the replay value is really fantastic.
There is no music in the levels, only sound effects and voices. This is because the game uses a voice navigation system to guide the player around levels, as well as update them about what other members of the team are doing. The other characters converse with each other over this system too, which often reveals a little about their relationships without interrupting the gameflow.
This game comes too late (saturn in Europe and USA was near to be dead) and maybe this is one of the facts that make this game less popular and underrated.
