Here I'm going way back in computer gaming history, to Oregon Trail, originally developed by Don Rawitsch in 1971 for the HP 2100 minicomputer. The game was almost immediately acquired by the Minnesota Educational Computing Corporation (MECC), and ported to many other platforms. With the introduction of personal computers in the late 1970's, the game became popular outside of Minnesota, and in 1982 the Apple II version was released. Oregon Trail was also ported to the Commodore 64, probably around the same time. I managed to find a ROM for that version that I briefly show here, but I focus on the 1984 version, which was often bundled in the MECC Expeditions pack. This was the version that I played when I was a kid, but before I made this playthrough, I literally hadn't played it in about 35 years (conservatively). I hope you appreciate this blast from the past, but remember that an all-new version of Oregon Trail is now available from the Learning Company for modern platforms (iOS and Android) here:

In the near future, I may do a playthrough of it for comparison.
