Cactus McCoy is the story (well, and game I suppose) or an unfortunate man who has been turned into a cactus and who will eventually turn to stone. Why is this? Rule number one, never accept shady deals from shady men that take you to shady locations. Unless there's a whole bucket load of money involved. In that case, go for it and more power to you! Unfortunately, said power was in an ancient artifact which in turn gave the power of being transmogrified into a cactus while then translithify into a cactus-shaped rock unless the ancient artifact is returned to its rightful resting place.

Though the game may sound a bit strange, I can assure you that it is certainly one of the best casual free games out there. The graphics are superbly done and everything is animated perfectly. Despite that, it's not a game that carries itself solely on the merit of its graphics like many other casual games do. This game has rock solid gameplay that will totally rock as you play the game (notice that clever word play, clever, 'innit?) from start to finish. And believe me, you will play this game from start to finish, it's that much fun.

Sunset Gulch brings you back to the typical ghost town level of the wild west. This time around though, it's not quite that easy to get through and you'll certainly take a beating before the end. A bunch of new weapons are introduced, foremost would be the bazooka. And yes, calm down, you can indeed get your cactusy hands on one to blast enemigos to teeny tiny bits. Unfortunately, to do so, you're going to have to beat said bazooka-wielding enemigos into dust first. And those bazookas pack quite a wallop and will certainly take you down if you're not careful. A few other fun weapons make a return, particularly the Gatling gun and the flamethrower, though only the latter features in the challenges.

The first challenge is to light all the torches in the level. You have to, as any normal and rational individual would do when lighting a torch, use your flamethrower. The torches are littered throughout the level, and they will take quite a bit of exploration to get to. Certainly, you don't -need- to do so, but exploration is a great part of the fun of the game.

As usual, the second challenge is a time challenge. You're given two minutes and thirty five seconds to do it this time around. This might be the toughest time challenge thus far, as not only do you have to deal with Gatling guns and bazookas being fired at you everywhere you go, but you've also got to deal with the bombs floating down from the sky which will inexplicably change course just to smash into you and blow you to bits.

The third challenge requires that you kill twenty enemigos using tear gas. While it is indeed simple to kill an enemigo using tear gas (just chuck a single one at an enemigo, he'll go down without any interference from you) it's rather trickier to manage to get all twenty with the limited supply given you. The plus side is that tear gas can affect multiple enemigos, so you're going to have to manage to bunch a group of them together before lobbing a canister at them.

The fourth challenge is possibly one of the most fun. Grab your bazooka and be vewy, vewy quiet, you're going enemigo hunting, ehehehehe. Ahem. On a more serious note, you have to hunt down a group of enemigos and use a single explosion from your bazooka to take three of them down in a single fiery blast.

As fun as the fourth challenge is, the last one may be the same level of annoying. You've got to grab a chicken, yes a chicken, and bring it all the way from the start of the level to the end. Because you can't do anything with the chicken (really, who brings a chicken to a gun/knife/sword/bomb/artillery fight?) the best way to do this is to first clear out the entire level and then go back for the chicken. Alternatively, you could carry it with you all the time and drop it whenever you need to fight. Either way, it can get frustrating.

That's about it for Sunset Gulch, on to the penultimate level!
