Cadillacs And Dinosaurs, 1993 Capcom (20 From '93 Part 20)
3The last entry in my 20 From 1993 series is based on a comic series called XENOZOIC TALES, which would eventually be known as CADILLACS AND DINOSAURS, and also spawned a great (but limited) cartoon series. The arcade game is a Final Fight-type of beat-en-up featuring 4 playable characters, 3 of which were prominently featured in both comic and cartoon (Jack Tenrec, Hannah Dundee, and Mustapha Cairo) and one that saw limited exposure in the comic (Mess O'Bradovich). The gist of the plot is that pollution and natural disasters have messed up the Earth and ecological balance, and dinosaurs and humans coexist. Jack Tenrec, a mechanic and crusader for ecology, owns a garage full of Cadillacs (and in the comics, they run on dinosaur poop!) and is joined by scientist/diplomat Hannah Dundee (very sexy ravenhead) and Jack's close friend and engineer Mustapha Cairo, and Mess O'Bradovich, who I don't know much about. All characters can do a dash (double tap the joystick left or right) and an attack in mid-dash, a special move (attack/jump together, but it expends some energy), and a special dive-kick. Of course, combo attacks are done while repeatedly attacking the enemy and you can grab and throw or attack when running into the enemy and pressing attack. Enemies have their own life bars, and you can pick up food/weapon items and break/throw boxes, barrels, etc., just like in Final Fight. Make it through 8 levels to reach a mad doctor bent on mutating people and dinosaurs, and destroy him. Note that you encounter several dinosaurs along the way; don't hurt them if you can help it! In fact, they can often help you by munching/charging enemies. Fun little beat-em-up with characters from the interesting and underappreciated comic/cartoon.
