Special moves are executable by every character, and dealing out punishment for your opponent will net you energy on your X-meter, which can be upgraded a level or two and allows you to pull off even more devastating moves when full. Other neat features include the ability to jump high over opponent projectiles (press down then up quickly), and to break the very ground you stand on to fall a level and fight below!
