Fun hybrid of monster movies and vs. fighting games! Capcom strikes again with great graphics and play mechanics. Select from 10 different monsters: Dmitri (vampire), Morrigan (succubus), Victor (Frankenstein monster), Talbain (werewolf), Lord Raptor (ghoul), Anakaris (mummy), Felicia (cat-girl), Bishamon (samurai ghost), Rikuo (merman) and Sasquatch (Bigfoot). Each character has a "Special" meter, which is filled by connecting with attacks. When it's full, the attacks do more damage-- especially the special moves (like projectile attacks and the like). Projectile attacks will go THROUGH the enemy's own projectile attacks. In this game you can really score a nice succession of combo hits-- possibly up into the double figures! These score some nice bonuses, and Morrigan's 4-hit strong kick is my favorite. Some special moves can only be executed when the Special meter is full. The background graphics are super-impressive and really capture the "Halloweeny" feel of the game-- just in time for the upcoming holiday! Morrigan and Felicia would be recurring characters in other Capcom games (often games with a "Capcom All Stars"-type of motif, like Marvel vs. Capcom, Capcom vs. X-Men, Capcom vs. SNK, etc.), including the Darkstalkers sequels!
