Call of Chernobyl 1.5 R6 - #001: Game Settings, Selections & Start
Trying Call of Chernobyl 1.5 R6 for the very first time. Started off using the randomizer to preview various Loner loadouts. I did not see the better ones that 1.4.22 had, where I could choose a Chaser 13, AKSU or a decent rifle. Instead, 1.5 gave me a lot of pistols to choose from. After going through the selections many times, I settled for a Viper 5 with a silencer as the best it was going to get. Almost chose the sawn-off shotgun as that was another decent choice. Once you pick your loadout, then you change your name, find the avatar picture you want ( unless you choose the box that changes your picture depending on your suit, in the HUD settings ) and then my start location, which not knowing what 1.5 was going to give me, I thought the Cordon Rookie Village was a fitting start setting.
After setting up my preferred keyboard commands, I changed the weather settings on all the levels. I hate fog, so removed it as much as I can. I also unchecked the box for helicopters. Why? I hated how the Military would call in helicopter support if they stubbed their toe. They're more of a pain in the ass that a fun element to have in the Game. Now that everything was setup, I started my Game and immediately started gathering supplies. I took a job to get boar meat, had boars attack and kill a man and then I goofed up by picking the wrong dialogue choice and rejected the task when I was just trying to see how many pieces he wanted. Oh well. You can see how terrible the Viper did using up precious ammo to kill the boars when a shotgun would have been much better.
Knowing where the stashes are is very helpful as you don't have to wait until they get activated. I picked up an Echo Detector and some other supplies but nothing outstanding. I took Wolf's job to kill some mutants on the other side of the train tracks and Sidorovich's job to kill the Bandits at the Car Park. I'm going to need some better weapons and a lot more ammo before I undertake either of them. I wasn't sure how long the video was running so I ended it.
