Sure enough, despite me getting them better arms, one of the rookies died before the night was over. The newbie Bandit only had a few more hours to go until sunrise, but he got too excited at one of the rare Snork variants, and ran down to kill it. If one of those super Snork gets you first, it can kill you. That's what happened to the rookie.

When I was coming back to the Dark Valley, from Garbage two nights ago, at the hidden pass, one of the super Snork bashed into me. It had knocked me away from the level changer, blocking my escape despite me clicking on last button. That had never happened before. My Exoskeleton got so much damage, the green armor warning came up on my screen. A couple more of those could send it to orange and then red.

You have to kill those super Snorks way before they get at and touch you. The Rookie found that out the hard way and he should not have left the safety of the tower and being on the inside walls. I guess maybe giving him a big rifle made him feel more invincible, as he ran down the stairs, out the west gate and straight into the mouth of the ugliest mutant in the Zone.

I gave all his weapons to my bodyguards and walked back to the safety of the walled fortress. I mourned the loss of this dumb kid who had just arrived, who was eager to prove himself but just ended up dying in the Dark Valley.
