As night came to the Dark Valley, a fog rolled in over the hills, giving any lights from campfires or headlamps, the ability to create ghostly shadows. I walked around the Bandit Base courtyard, checking on the sentries and lit campfires. When I ascended the watchtower by the east gate, I spotted a headlamp across the road and quickly realized it was the Freedom squad I had met earlier. I thought they had continued on south, going around behind the Gas Station. Instead, they decided to stay at the shelter where I found them. That's what I would have done.

Since all of Freedom was a friendly "green" ally, all the Freedom I meet should have the same color. This squad was neutral yellow, meaning at some time, possibly weeks ago, I was near them, and someone might have gotten some friendly fire, being too close to men or mutants I was trying to kill. There are sometimes other reasons but this I find is the most common. I go out the east gate, walk to the small two-story building and talk to each of them again. There are many good windows in that building for viewing the northern field, where I find a Snork trying to stay hidden.

Out of the shadows and fog, coming from the Truck Cemetery, a figure emerged moving slowly. At first, I am concerned with what Faction this new arrival might be, but with each step and sway of an arm, I realize it was not a man. The arm was too long and twisted. Was it a Fracture? A Zombie? I could not tell in the shadows, as it moved off the road and appeared to be going west. I thought it was going to take the same path as the Flesh, that got caught in the Anomaly field and became floating corpses. I decide to leave the Freedom squad and get back to our Base quickly, so I can go to the west gate, climb up the watchtower there and watch the mutant hopefully pass through the same Anomaly field.
