I climb down from the water tower, to go meet the four-man Loner squad that arrives at the Village Ruins. They only offer a job for a rare artifact, that I wouldn't give up to anyone. I sell a better shotgun to the one with the crappy sawn-off shotgun, but he doesn't equip it. They get excited seeing the dead Monolith. I climb back up the water tower, looking for more travel by men and mutants. Then I look down and realize Doc is directly below me.

As Doc has previously been hostile red and would not trade with me, now being neutral yellow, I can trade with him. This change appears to be related to my new alliance with the Loners. Despite him being a Trader and not one of the nine Factions, and found in the Marshes with Clear Sky, his fate is tied in with the Loners. This appears to be the same for Sidorovich and Barkeep. However, Sidorovich would still trade with me even as red hostile. The others won't. When I met Doc at the Clear Sky Base, he gave me a quick job to give him some drugs, but he won't open his inventory for trading unless you catch him in travel. Once he sits down you are out of luck.

Doc reveals he has a large number of weapons and ammo. These are the weapons he stole from my enemies at the Village Ruins. He looted them before I could get there. He has 10,000 rubles on him. I buy up all the special ammo he has, making him a little richer. I sell him an Echo Detector. Notice how after selling it to him, it does not appear in his inventory to sell. This means he wants to keep it and will probably start doing some artifact hunting and will collect any he finds. I leave him and make the way back to the south and I am soon back at the Clear Sky Base.
