0Because you purchase the shortcuts to the beginning of each world, instead of earning them by beating the boss from the last world, it can lead to situations where you have to backtrack from earlier in the game because you don't have the funds available to buy it yet. This didn't happen frequently for me, primarily due to grinding for money earlier, but I think this is a poor concept to start with. Regardless, dying late in a world can lead to the same problem of having to start it over again anyways, so it's absolutely worth buying the self-regenerating upgrade and letting it fill back up if it gets too low. Better to wait 30 seconds to heal than having to start an entire world over again, which takes a few minutes.
