Camera Missing in Device Manager on Windows 11 Problem FIX

Commands Used:
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
sfc /scannow

Imaging Devices is a Windows Device Manager feature that lists all the imaging devices you have under it, this section allows you to update drivers for existing imaging devices and also disable/install them. A fairly common error with certain webcams is getting a “No driver found” error message when you try to use the webcam. However, when you go to the Control Panel, and open the Device Manager to update or install the driver, you will find no Imaging Devices there, which means that your webcam isn’t even recognized and any other imaging devices you may have will not be visible.

Webcams are almost all plug & play. In some rare cases, e.g., if you’re using a high-end Logitech webcam, you might need to install a special, proprietary app to use all its features but it will still work.

For internal webcams i.e., those that are built into a system, you don’t really need to install anything. They’re detected automatically and work even if you have a fresh Windows 11 installation.

Windows 11’s Device Manager usually lists webcams under the Imaging devices category. However, some users have stated that they can’t find their webcams in Device Manager.

Thus, their webcams, or even all image devices, are missing. Consequently, those users can’t utilize their webcams in Windows 11.

If you’re dealing with a case of camera not showing in Device Manager, here’s how to restore it.
