If you see the dreaded ‘No camera connected’ or ‘No camera available’ message appear as you’re using your Mac - whether it's Photobooth or Facetime - don't worry. Your camera’s not dead (probably), it’s just sleeping. So we’ve gathered some fixes to get your Mac webcam working again.

The main focus of this guide is showing you how to force-quit the important ‘VDCAssistant’ and ‘AppleCameraAssistant’ processes, which resets the camera. We'll also show you how to adjust the Mac camera settings in Facetime
