Can A Video Game Help Heal The Brain?
Aim Lab is a tool gamers use to train their aim for games like Counter-Strike, Valorant and Apex Legends. But what if it could help heal the brain? That's what Aim Lab creator, Wayne Mackey, and David Putrino of Mt. Sinai in New York, look to find out.
Rehab in the past has been limited by time, money and resources, but with Aim Lab, not only have Wayne and David seen an uptick in enjoyment with rehab, they are starting to see some positive results. The in-game software can easily track progress, computers are widely available for use, and it promotes inclusion -- those who use to not be able to game are now afforded a chance. This is how the Quad Gods came to be, a group compromised of paraplegic individuals who work with David to train and compete in video games.
This is the story of how Aim Lab has grown into not just a training tool, but a possible solution for rehabilitation and inclusion.
Special Thanks to Wayne Mackey, David Putrino, and the Quad Gods Blake Hunt and Nyree Stevens
