Why are we on Youtube instead of Twitch:
________________________________
Hello everyone! After much contemplation and thorough analysis, I've made the decision to migrate my live streams from Twitch to YouTube Live. While the decision wasn't easy, I truly believe this move will allow us to grow our community and improve the overall streaming experience.
Over time, I found myself increasingly frustrated with Twitch's backend infrastructure. It struggled to keep pace with technological advancements, and this was taking a toll on our streams. On the other hand, YouTube's innovative and state-of-the-art features, such as 4K streaming, higher bitrates, AV1 codec support, and more, stood out as the epitome of cutting-edge technology.
But it's not just about tech. One thing that has always been a major concern for me is the principle of fair compensation for hard work. Twitch's revenue sharing model, which offers a 30/70 ratio for new streamers, doesn't sit well with me. It seems inequitable, particularly when compared to the fairer ratios YouTube provides, ensuring creators receive a better share of the revenue they generate.
Twitch Prime, while an appreciable feature, unfortunately, couldn't offset the numerous shortcomings and blunders that I encountered on Twitch. What I value is a platform that is consistently evolving, adapting, and aligning with my principles as a content creator.
Moreover, I've always championed the concept of centralization, the ability to host most of my content on a single platform. Although I've garnered a considerable following on TikTok, I have reservations about the platform's longevity and trustworthiness. By integrating my short video content into YouTube Shorts, I can conveniently centralize my content and foster a streamlined viewer experience.
In closing, while there might be a brief adjustment period, I am confident that YouTube will offer a more robust and versatile platform for our thriving community. Thanks for your ongoing support, and I can't wait to share more of my content with you all! - ZF Joink
